OnTrac Competency Management Model
This model is an integral component of the OnTrac Learning Framework and it helps identify the competencies required by employees to excel in their roles. It approaches employee competency management using a 3 pronged method as shown below:

Functional Competencies: These are competencies that the employee needs to start doing the job. For example, without process/technical training, it will not be possible for an associate to start working in his/her process. Training related to these competencies will be given the highest priority to enable the business to continue uninterrupted operations.
Mastery Competencies: Once the employee has some experience in working in his current role, training related to mastery competencies will be provided. These are programs that will help the employee the employee perform even better in the current role. For example, training a team leader in managing conflicts at work, will enhance his ability to perform better.
Developmental Competencies: These are competencies that are required for the employee to grow to the next level. Training related to these competencies is identified based on growth opportunities available for employees in various areas. For example, for a team leader to become a manager, he may be trained on handling conference calls with clients or stake holders.
